I recently watched a film called, THE REPORT, which is based on actual events related to an investigation of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program created in the aftermath of 9/11. I highly recommend the movie, Annette Benning gives a powerful performance of Senator Diana Feinstein and Adam Driver as the main protagonist, an idealistic Senate staffer that is relentless in his search for the truth. One of the most intriguing parts of the movie is the role two prominent psychologists played in designing the CIA’s tactics, and their reliance on a classic experiment first performed in the 1960’s that was the basis of the theory “learned helplessness.”
